Naming This Online Real Estate Barter Community

Rob Wickens's picture

So it time for our team to figure out the name of this online real estate bartering community.

Ok here is what I'd like to do

Can we each choose 1-2 of our favorites from these lists and then in the interests of democracy, I will create a poll where we can all vote on what the name will be! So reply directly to this comment with one or two of your favorites, and then I will seed them in a poll we can all vote on. For now the "code name" of this project is barterblaze.

The two names I choose to go in the poll are:

1. Barter Blaze

2. The Property Barter

1.

1. homebartercommunity.com

2. homebarternetwork.com

1. TheBarterCommunity.com

2. BarterDreams.com

Don't forget to make sure your two favs are available.

Another name

Everyone, another name we tossed around back in the day was one called Pyroteer - kind of has a cool ring to it and it's Pyro!

Barter Blaze

I prefer Barter Blaze. I like the alliteration aspect of it but also that is keep with the fire branding we are attemtping to do. Plus, Dan thought of it.

More naming possibilities...

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my wife is really intrigued by this new home bartering social network.  As such, we went out to dinner last night and this is all we talked about.

We thought that the name should be either...way out in left field with no evident connection to the home bartering industry, (ie Google, ebay, Yahoo, Apple, Embers, etc...), or it needed to have a direct connection with home, neighborhood, community, etc...  So, we came up with a few names that resonated with us:

HomeToHome.com; HomeToHomeNetwork; HomeToHomeConnection; TheHomeConnection; TheHomeownersConnection; TheHomeNetwork; HomeOwnersNetwork; HouseToHomeNetwork; HeartToHomeNetwork; OurHomeNetwork; MyHomeNetwork;

TheNeighborhood.com;  TheNeighborhoodConnection; Neighbors; MyNeighborhoodConnection; NeighborsToNeighbors; TheNeighborhoodNetwork; MyNeighborhoodNetwork; NetworkingWithNeighbors; CommunityConnection; CommunityNetwork;

Not sure if any of these are even available, but thought they might stimulate another direction in our creative thought process.

I think we need to remember that this is an idea that needs to resonate across demographics; in metro, rural and suburbia; on the coasts, in the mountains and fly-over country; and in the US & Canada.

I completely agree

I totally agree with this comment. Personally I think the name of this REALLY needs to have something about 'homes' or 'house' or something in the name because a name like 'the barter community' implies to me its all about bartering, and not about homes. The bartering isn't even the important part of the site, it's the homes.  Somy opinion is we need to move away from the barter aspect in the name and move towards something about homes.

Out of the names listed above, I like 'the home connection' and 'house to home network' and 'the home exchange'

Mortgage possibilities...

Just thinking about a few other naming possibilities:

MyMortgageBailOut.com; MortgageMovers.com; MortgageMadness.com; HomeMortgageSolutions.com; MyMortgageCrisis.com; MortgageExchange.com; HomeExchange.com;

BaracksMortgageSolution.com; ObamaRama; MyBarackSolution.com;  (just kidding)

Once again, not sure if any of these are even available...

Name + Competitors

The only "competitor" I see in this space is goswap.org, those other sites were either for connecting people on a SALE basis, or were just relatively poorly developed properties. And we'll be launching with some immediate strategic advantages over goswap, namely:

  1. Social networking capabilities
  2. Better out of the box SEO
  3. Better branding and marketing
  4. More powerful tools for Barter Members

As for the name, I kind of like

  • TheBarterCommunity.com (although its a bit generic)
  • And BarterBlaze.com has kind of grown on me..

I'd really like to think of something using our incendia pyromarketing... flame, blaze, flash, fire, spark, pyro, etc. IncendiaBarter is ok, but given the fact that a lot of people don't know how to spell or pronouce our name already that one might backfire for direct navigation traffic.
