Transferable Mortgages...

Hmmm...Turbazza.com - Empowering homeowners to barter their homes with other homeowners, eliminating the middlemen, saving time and money...what a concept!  What a great free enterprise solution to the mortgage mess we find ourselves in today!  We didn't need a bail-out from the government and we didn't need the established mortgage banking gang or the real estate cartel to come up with an idea that might actually work!  We came up with this idea ourselves and built the site in less than two weeks with very little budget...obviously not a government project.

Unfortunately, we have found a glitch in implementing this free market solution...Transferable Mortgages are not yet a reality here in the good old USA and it appears that the only other similar solutions were so complicated and expensive that the average homeowner simply couldn't afford it. 

As we began to research this issue, we found a 2003 article in Professional Builder entitled "A Solution to Rising Mortgage Rates" and subtitled, "Somebody needs to invent a Transferrable Mortgage".  This article was written by John Burns, President of John Burns Real Estate Consulting (www.realestateconsulting.com).  We contacted John about this situation and he indicated that to his knowledge not much had been done since that time to remedy it and make Transferable Mortgages a reality.  Evidently, E*Trade did take an interest in what John was proposing back in 2003 and came up with a solution it tabbed as " Portable Mortagages", but again, it was cost inhibitive and never caught on.

As a result, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and begin a grassroots campaign to lobby our representatives and other political leaders on both sides of the aisle to persuade them to re-consider Transferable Mortgages as a free market solution and take a look at our web-based barter solution, Turbazza.com, as a vehicle to empower homeowners instead of burdening them with another billion dollar bail-out.  As President Obama has energized the nation and the world with his message of CHANGE, we have initiated contact with his office and worked down thru Democrat and Republican leaders in the House and Senate.  We have also begun contacting governors and state representatives, as well as media outlets in television and radio.  After two weeks since our first contact, we have recieved a couple of canned responses, but very little sincere interest.

I seem to remember another time in our US history that a fledgling bunch of passionate common folk in Boston got the attention of some really important leaders of their day with a late night tea party in Boston Harbor.  It wasn't long afterward that a few brave young patriots began a wild fire that originated from the wicks of two small lanterns in the steeple of the old north church and spread by word of mouth across a nation.  Maybe a day of real change has begun and WE, THE PEOPLE, are the agents of this change!!!
